The restaurant and bar is really nicely decorated. We chose from the 2 for 1 cocktails my favourites were the Long Island and the sweet berry martini. You HAVE to order the lemon cheesecake cocktail from the mixology section it’s to die for! Tamara made our cocktails in front of us and kindly gave us a little demo on how to get a cocktail very frothy and let us choose edible flowers for a garnish which was a really nice touch! The food was delicious! We really like the new menu which is tapas style, we got a couple of plates and a flatbread to share and we were absolutely stuffed! We were checked on throughout our stay to make sure we had everything we needed which you just don’t get in lots of restaurants these days. The staff are chatty and very friendly this is a perfect date night spot we are certainly coming back!

We decided to the the Shipmans, and old haunt from decades ago. It has been refurbished and now serves the best Sunday roast I’ve had in years! Everything was home cooked, fresh and fabulous. Little extra touches like beetroot purée on the side, which mixed fabulously with horse radish, made it a real treat. Definitely NOT a roast I could cook at home. Excited to return asap

Stopped in for a roast dinner on the way back from an appointment. I had the slow cooked pork belly with sausage meat stuffing which was amazing. My husband found this delightful place in the Summer of 2023 Walked past it for years thought was just a drinking den if we honest as outside didn't look that welcoming at 1st As it was pouring down with rain we went in WOW never so glad to be caught in the rain As soon as we went in was very pleasant surprised by the surroundings Very tastefully decorated beautiful fireplaces tealighrs and cosey seating with cushions The two ladies Alley & Lauren (l think are Chef & Landlady) were so welcoming We ended up staying for more than 1 drink and ordered food Homemade and tasty Blade of Beef amazing Have since changed the Menu so can only get Blade of Beef for Sunday Lunch However all the other food on New menu looked tasty when went for small plates We now go once a month via bus (to have a few tipples :) ) On a Sunday for the roast dinner As a fussy eater my husband knows l not going to complain here So he's more than happy to travel Thanks girls See you again soon

We had Sunday lunch here today, well my granddaughter had three small plates and cauliflower/brocolli cheese. Her mum had the belly of pork and I had the blade of beef. A little pricey but worth every penny as everything was cooked to perfection, the gravy was delicious and the yorkies were light and crispy. Great Sunday lunch with friends, I think this is fourth time we have eaten at shipman’s since it opened and we have always enjoyed the food and ambiance. Alice was our server today and she definitely knows how to look after customers, nothing was too much trouble, thank you for a lovely afternoon.

What a lovely Sunday lunch had out this afternoon with my aunt. I booked a table on line, all very easy and asked for a table down stairs, we picked where we sat so that was great. I'd explained we needed downstairs as aunt in her early 80's and I was bringing her for a birthday treat. The staff were lovely, attentive and my aunt told them a story about my nan and great nan coming to Shipmans in the 1920's with nan sitting outside with her pop and snacks. My aunt was presented with a lovely pudding of her choice decorated with candles and happy birthday - a lovely touch and we sang happy birthday. It made her day and she thoroughly enjoyed herself - thank you Shipmans it was great and the pudding was on the house, how sweet of you!!
